Important Notice
Before making any modifications to documents, please ensure that you are making changes only on the documents that pertain to your base. If you have questions on whether a document is related to your base or another base, please contact Russ DeFusco at birdmanruss@aol.com to ensure that you are not overwriting another base's documents.
All editorial changes in the draft documents should be made using the Track Changes function. If you are unfamiliar with this function, please read this for more information.
Document Action: Download
Once you have found the document that you wish to download, left click on the Download link in the farthest right column for that document.
Please note that different browsers have different settings, and you may be directed to take further actions, such as specifying whether you would like to Open or Save the file, or where you would prefer the File to be saved.
If the information loads directly into your browser window when you select the link, then you will need to go back to the Portal page, right-click on the Download link, and select Save As or Save Target As, depending on your browser.
Document Action: Upload
To upload a new document, either select the Upload link from the Document Action column or select the Upload New File button at the bottom of the document list.
You will be taken to the Upload File page, where you are able to navigate to the document on your local computer by either entering the path directly to the document or using the Browse button to find the file.
Once you have found the file and its path is displayed in the file upload text field, select theUploadbutton to upload your document to the portal.
Note: If you are uploading a new version of an existing file, make sure that it is named the same as the old file, or the portal will consider it a new file, and not version your document correctly. Also, please ensure before you upload a file that you are not using the same name as another file if you are not intending to replace it.
Document Action: History
The History link will only be active for a file if the file has been replaced with a new version at least once.
The latest version of the document will always be the one displayed on the main page of the Document Portal, so it is only necessary to go into the history if you need to undo editing changes or revert back to a prior version of the document.
To download a previous version, select the History link for that document in the Document Action column. Then select the version of the document that you wish to download.
Document Action Process: Reverting Back to a Previous Version of a Document
If it becomes necessary to undo changes and revert back to a previous version of a document, then you will need to re-upload the version of the document that you want to be the current version. If you have a copy of this version locally, then simply follow the upload steps located above to replace the current version of the document with the old version, which will then become the current version.
If the version of the document is not available on your local computer, then select the History link in the Document Action column for the document in question.
After you are taken to the history page, select which older version of the document you would like to change back to and download that document.
Once you have downloaded that document, find its location on your computer, and rename it appropriately; this consists of removing the appended dash and number (eg. example-3.doc would become example.doc.)
To change the filename, either rightclick on the document and select rename.
Logout
Once you have finished viewing and downloading your documents, select the Logout button to end your session on the BASH Incorporated Document Portal.
